Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling or a related field, active School Counselor license and 1+ years School Counselor experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A temporary opportunity is available for a Middle School Counselor to provide guidance and support at a public middle school in Minneapolis, MN. This position is a contracted leave coverage role running from January 12, 2026, through June 5, 2026. The counselor will serve the general education student population and help promote their academic, emotional, and social development.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing individual and group counseling to middle school students
- Supporting students with personal, social, and academic issues
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to address student needs
- Developing and implementing intervention strategies and programs
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation as required
- Assisting with crisis intervention and prevention efforts
- Facilitating student development activities related to career and academic planning
Qualifications and skills desired:
- Valid license or certification as a General Education School Counselor
- Experience working with middle school students in a counseling capacity
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage caseload and work independently within a school setting
- Open and available to cover the specified leave dates
This role follows a Monday through Friday schedule, with working hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., totaling 37.5 hours per week. The counselor will be assigned to Forest Lake Middle School during this contract.
